The Braving Healing Compass

A Practical Tool for Navigating Moment-to-Moment in Life in the Face of Complex Trauma

For those of us who endured childhood sexual abuse, navigating life brings a wide range of challenges. It’s easy to get stuck ruminating on our thoughts, freeze when we need to make a choice, react to situations without aligning with what’s important to ourselves, or do something else. The moment-to-moment challenges of life in the wake of complex trauma are complicated.

Many of us are used to brushing off the difficulties and gritting our way through it all.

We wanted to create something to support daily life navigation.

We’ve collaborated with experts and advocates, dug through volumes of trauma research, and aligned this tool with both our lived experiences and dozens of interviews.

We’re fine-tuning four additional sections for each part of the compass:

  • What each looks like
  • Signs that one might want to go in a certain direction
  • When might we be ready to change our orientation
  • Signs that we might be stuck
